About us

Montreal's Public Markets
A social economy enterprise, the Société des Marchés publics de Montréal's mission is to improve access to fresh produce through a network of public markets that bring Montrealers closer to local producers, growers, retailers, restaurateurs and agri-food artisans.
Since 1993, we have been mandated by the City of Montreal to manage the Atwater Market, the Jean-Talon Market, the Maisonneuve Market, six Marchés de Quartier and three Marchés Solidaires. A not-for-profit organisation, our governance is based on a mixed board of directors, made up of five merchants and five residents of the Greater Montreal area, and includes more than 200 members who trade in public markets.
More than three out of every four Montrealers visit the Montreal Public Markets network. By promoting a short circuit model, the network helps to feed the population and provide year-round access to local, quality produce throughout the island of Montreal.
