Atwater Market

Located in southwest Montreal, near the Lachine Canal, the Atwater Market is open summer and winter. Listed as one of Montreal's most beautiful buildings, the art-deco market has been in existence since 1933. It takes its name from the avenue that runs alongside it, which perpetuates the memory of Ewin Atwater, a 19th-century businessman and city councillor.
Whether you're a locavore or in search of gourmet discoveries, you'll find high-quality, seasonal products from our food producers and artisans: fruit and vegetables, butchers, fishmongers and cheesemongers, market gardeners and shopkeepers all rub shoulders. In spring, horticultural producers set up shop for a season.
Every year, around the time of the first frost, walls are erected around the market so that you can spend a shopping season sheltered from the winter, then dismantled when the temperatures warm up to become an open-air market.
During the summer season, enjoy the Pôle des Saveurs, focusing on fast, innovative and delicious food. Take a seat around the picnic tables or on the large terrace by the Lachine Canal and enjoy your ready-to-eat meals!
