Atwater and Jean-Talon markets prepare for summer

Did you know? The Jean-Talon and Atwater markets are open all year round, thanks to the assembly and dismantling of removable walls. In winter, these walls keep the heat in and provide a comfortable indoor experience. In summer, they are removed to expand the market and offer an open-air experience.
Work takes place on approximately the same dates each year: in October for erection and in April for dismantling.
Wall dismantling in spring 2025:
- At Atwater Market: Tuesday, April 22 to Friday, April 25.
- At Marché Jean-Talon: Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2.
While our markets are peeling off their skins, the indoor stores remain accessible, and some merchants are already waiting for you at their kiosks in the outdoor areas!
This metamorphosis involves a lot of work for our merchants, who have to dismantle their kiosks completely and, a few days later, set them up again, sometimes in completely different locations. Many merchants also take advantage of this period of work to give their booths a facelift, with a major clean-up and a good lick of paint.
This seasonal change of scenery certainly allows visitors to enjoy an adapted environment and offer an authentic, lively local experience twelve months a year.
Here are a few images of the work carried out in recent years.
