Santa’s Cookies with Magic Powder

Ingredients
cookies
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. softened butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- ½ tsp. almond extract (optional)
- Red and green food colouring

- 1 egg white
- 1 ¾ c. caster sugar
- 2 tsp. water (more or less depending on the desired texture)
- ¼ tsp. almond extract (optional)
Red food colouring

- 10 crushed candy canes
- 2 tbsp. your favourite cake decorations (white pearls, candy snowflakes, coloured sprinkles, etc.)
- One or more Santa’s cookies, crumbled
Preparation

- Preheat the oven to 350°. Cover a large cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Combine the cookie ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well until the texture is homogenous and slightly sandy.
- Separate the cookie dough into three equal parts. Add a few drops of red food colouring to one. Add a few drops of green food colouring to the second and leave the third part without colouring.
- Combine the two colours (see photos) or choose your own design.
- On a clean surface, roll out the coloured dough with a rolling pin to about 0.5 cm in thickness. Cut out the cookies with a cookie cutter until all the dough is used up.
- Place the cookies on the cookie sheet and bake 12 to 15 minutes, or until slightly browned.

- Combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Mix well. Set aside.
- Dip the baked and cooled cookies into the icing (one side only).

- Combine all the ingredients together in a container.
- Sprinkle over the iced cookies, or into your fireplace.
