Corn Ketchup

This harvest season, the Montreal Public Markets are offering you some original and tasty recipes using seasonal vegetables!

Ingredients

For 3 x 500 ml jars
  • 1/2 cup onions
  • 1 cup celery
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. mustard seeds
  • 1/2 green pepper + 1/2 red pepper (1 cup)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. coarse salt
  • 1 tbsp. celery seeds

 

Other ingredients
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. mustard powder
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tbsp. turmeric powder

Preparation

  1. Combine ingredients of marinade in a pot and cook over medium heat, for 10 min.
  2. Mix in a bowl the other ingredients then add to the pot.
  3. Cook and stir until thickened, for 10 min.
